Fists and Embers

I wanted to work on a project that would allow me to explore my own art style and process--one that I could actually finish and submit to Deviantart, given my recent inactivity.
I've been messing around on SAI quite a bit lately, experimenting, but everything has been trashed. This was a nice change of pace. I referenced from a picture that I found online, but created my own color scheme (I resourced absolutely NO color picking of the original image. I wanted to touch up on creating my own color pallet--something I'm largely lacking in).

Wow, I'm really proud of her left hand (the one on the right side of the screen, from our perspective). I should have added a texture to the brass knuckles though...maybe I'll do that later.

huzzah, a working art process, and tool settings that I can actually agree with. I didn't over-blend on this like most of my work--in fact, I left quite a bit of texture. But I like it that way! I touched up some effects in photoshop, too, but they don't add a whole lot of difference in terms of color.

Here is the original image that I referenced from: sta.sh/018uyk1z0yvi I uploaded to to stash because I can't find the link where I got it from--I saved the image to my laptop about a year ago, for reference. But it never got used.

Anyway, the original concept belongs to whoever took and edited the original referenced photo. The work here was drawn by me. No stealies.
